Legislation 

Government guidance issued May 2023 suggests that as a public authority, town and parish councils must:​

• Consider what you can do to conserve and enhance biodiversity.

• Agree policies and specific objectives based on your consideration.

• Act to deliver your policies and achieve your objectives

To comply Parish Councils must agree their policies and objectives as soon as possible and then reconsider the agreed actions within 5 years of completing the considerations and earlier if needed.​
